Congratulations to Kelly Bolton!

We are honored to share that she has been appointed as the Legislative Vice Chair of the School Nutrition Association of Michigan (SNAM). SNAM partners with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Michigan Department of Education to support and administer Michigan’s school breakfast and lunch programs.

Through her previous work on projects with the Michigan Department of Education, she has had the opportunity to build strong professional relationships with state leaders and program administrators dedicated to child nutrition.

In her new role as Legislative Vice Chair, she was invited to attend a legislative advocacy trip to Washington, D.C., March 6–11, 2026 (all expenses paid), alongside fellow board members and USDA representatives. During this visit, she will participate in the national legislative conference and meet with our state representatives and members of Congress to advocate for policies that would make free school meals a permanent federal law.

Recently, Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation supporting Michigan School Meals, providing important momentum for continued advocacy efforts at the federal level. Regardless of political perspective, research consistently demonstrates that access to free school meals positively impacts students’ financial stability, physical health, mental well-being, and overall academic performance by ensuring they have the fuel and energy necessary for learning.

We are truly honored to have Kelly represent Michigan in this important work and to contribute to efforts that directly support the health and success of our students.Go Warriors!
