Measuring Academic Achievement - Standardized Testing vs. Critical Thinking Skills - November, 2018

In this November installment of the "Superintendent's Corner", Superintendent Dr. Ryle Kiser shares some of the history of standardized student testing, such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), and the American College Test (ACT), and how the results of those tests don't measure a student's ability to think critically, or measure a student's higher order thinking skills. They also don't measure a student's creativity level. Click on the heading of this feature to see Dr. Kiser's comments regarding inconsistencies between what standardized testing measures, and what prospective employers and post-graduate instructors are looking for in our students.
