Memphis Hall Wins Poetry Award

Congratulations to George Long Elementary School student Memphis Hall, who was a winner of the 2019 Young Poets Contest hosted by the Jackson District Library. Memphis, a kindergartner in Ms. Artz’s class, read his winning poem, "Soccer", at the 15th annual “Poets Among Us” Young Poets Contest Community Celebration on Tuesday, April 16th. Guest Poet, Kalli Dakos, was the featured speaker. Dakos is the award-winning author of "The Goof Who Invented Homework", "Why Am I Blue?", "Our Principal Promised to Kiss a Pig", and other delightful stories.

The Jackson District Library would like to thank the Kindergarten through 12th grade student authors from throughout Jackson County who expressed themselves through poetry. Special congratulations to the families, teachers and administrators for encouraging and supporting their efforts.
