Grass Lake HIgh School Forensics

  • 5/3 - Mrs. Amy Janz reports on the results of the Forensics State Tournament last weekend......

The official forensics' season has come to end with the completion of the state tournament at Oakland University this past May 2nd and 3rd. As always the competition was fierce; it is always amazing what these teenagers can accomplish across the state. From Grass Lake nine students attended and five students qualified for semi-finals.
Congratulations to all of Grass Lake's students' state placements-
    Sonia Thatai - Informative Speaking - 20th
    Chris Pongracz - Prose Interpretation - 20th
Elsa Miller - Prose Interpretation -18th
    Makenzie Molnar - Dramatic Interpretation - 14th
    Solomon Anderson - Dramatic Interpretation - 11th place (semi-finalist)
Rebecca Rigg and Shaun Burk - Duo Interpretation - 9th place (Semi-finalist)
Elle Durkee and Snowy Inverson - Duo Interpretation - 8th place (semi-finalist)
Overall, due the scores of these students, Grass Lake placed 9th in the state in the C/D school classification.
I can't stress enough how proud of these students that I am. They competed hard, felt good about their performances, and most importantly had fun and made lasting memories. They are truly remarkable students and fine examples of Grass Lake Community Schools.
A handful of students will be competing at the Michigan Speech Coaches' spring tournament on Mackinac Island on May 18th.

Thanks for all the support and kind comments throughout the season. It is always appreciated.

    Forensics State

3/11 Congratulations to our Grass Lake High School Forensics Team who participated in Novi this past weekend in the Spring Festival and Novice State Tournament sponsored by Michigan Speech Coaches, Inc. This is basically two tournaments in one: a state final for all first year competitors and a regular tournament for all other students.

Team Advisor Mrs. Amy Janz announced that Chris Pongracz placed seventh in prose interpretation in the novice tournament, while Rebecca Rigg placed the highest of the entire team at second in Dramatic Interpretation.

Thanks to Chris and Rebecca's scores, as well as the sweepstakes points earned by Solomon Anderson, Heather McArthur, McKenzie Molnar, and Elsa Miller, Grass Lake ranked third in the medium sized team category, bringing home another trophy. Well done GLHS Forensics Team!

2/9 Our Grass Lake High School Forensics Team hosted a multi-school tournament today. Overall, our team points earned from our team members' individual scores earned enough points to earn first place overall. Congratulations to our team for this impressive victory.
