• Grass Lake High School Sophomore Theresa Rankin just won the 2014 Body Bar Fila Cadet Women's Freestyle National Championships at 49K (108 lbs) in Irving, TX.  This was the National Qualifier for the USA World Team and the World Championships in Slovakia July 12 - 19th, 2014.

    This Tournament was a pool match round robin.  Theresa had to win her pool and then face the winner of the other pool.  In the Championship Round, it was the best two out of three matches. Theresa wrestled Jennifer Juarez from New York, who was a National Team Member last year and won the Pan America Games earlier this year.  Theresa pinned her in the first period both matches and did not have to wrestle third match.

    Theresa will be practicing with the Olympic Team in preparation for the World Championships for two weeks in July before traveling to Slovakia.  Theresa will also be invited and participate in four USA World Team training camps through the next year.  Next spring, Theresa will be able to travel with the USA World Team on an International Tour which includes: a tournament in Austria, then a five day camp in Sweden, and then another tournament in Germany.  She will be representing the USA in three international tournament including the World Championships.

    Theresa had a wonderful boy's season posting a 34-7 record, but has had an unblemished and outstanding Women's Season, thus far winning the following championships..................

    The Michigan Championship, Ohio Championship, Queen of Kings Challenge in Bristol, TN, Northern Championship in WI, Central Championship in IN, the USWA Folkstyle National Championship in OK, the War of Roses Grand National (triple crown) event winning all three styles:  folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco Roman), and now the Fila Cadet Freestyle National Championship.

    Theresa is excited about practicing with the Olympian's and competing for the USA on the International Level.
