Wednesday, January 18, 2017 - We will have our monthly two-hour delayed start. All classes will begin two hours later than regularly scheduled and all buses will be arriving at their regular stop two hours later than regularly scheduled. This does not affect Career Center students, nor does it affect Little Warriors programming. á
Our Student Computers Have Been Deployed
After months of preparation, planning, and training, and the financial support of Robert and Ellen Thompson, all eligible Grass Lake Community Schools Kindergarteners through 12th graders now have their own individual computer devices. With our school district's "1:1 Initiative" computer rollout, our Kindergarteners and 1st graders are using iPads, while the remainder of our students are employing Chromebooks. We're glad you have stopped to see our school district's website. Our district enrolls over 1,290 students in our pre-school through 12th grade system in three buildings. We are continually workingáto improve our students' academic achievement by increasing rigor, while promoting relevance and relationships with our students.áWe are located in the Township of Grass Lake in Jackson County in the south-central area of Michigan, just south of Interstate 94, approximately 20 miles west of Ann Arbor and 10 miles east of Jackson. Winterfest, Chili Cook-Off, Ice Carving Coming to Grass Lake High School
The Grass Lake Chamber of Commerce Winterfest and Chili Cook-Off will be held this Saturday, January 21, at Grass Lake High School. from 11 AM-3 PM. There will be fun activities for all age groups.Ice carving will begin Thursday, January 19, at noon and will continue throughout the day on Friday, January 20. Carving will take place on the east end of the High School Multi-Purpose Room with carvers using electric chainsaws. Carvers have been instructed to stop their carving whenever students are near the area before school is in session, while school is in session, and after school is in session.

Access to Grass Lake High School Changed
Effective Monday, January 9, 2017, the gate at the high school that separates the parking lots from the bus drive will be closed every school day from 7:20 AM until 4:00 PM. All visitors to the high school will need to use the Warrior Trail entrance at that time.

Darrell Hart Ends School Board Tenure
The Grass Lake Community Schools family would like to thank Mr. Darrell Hart for his 8.5 years of service as a member of the Grass Lake Community Schools Board of Education. He attended his final Board of Education meeting as a member of the Board on Monday, December 12. Mr. Hart's positive contributions during his time on the Board are immeasurable and his insights will be missed. Thank you!

GLMS and GLHS Achieve Green School Status
Congratulations to the staffs and students at Grass Lake Middle School and Grass Lake High School for being named as Green Schools my Michigan Green Schools. Grass Lake Middle School achieved "Evergreen" status, the highest award, while Grass Lake High School achieved "Emerald" status, which is the second highest award, followed only by "Green" status.
